Operations Support Associate 
Hybrid position, ideally located within reasonable commuting distance to Concord, MA

Summary/Objective 

Abode currently oversees ~two dozen home improvement contractors (“Trade Allies”) participating in the residential segment of the utility-sponsored Mass Save program, who provide home energy assessments and weatherization services (e.g., air sealing and insulation) to homeowners. Abode's Operations Support Associate carries out workflows associated with these services, with a focus both on helping customers make informed decisions and helping to ensure quality installs from participating contractors. This is a terrific opportunity for someone who derives satisfaction from paying attention to the operational details needed to ensure customer satisfaction, as part of a team helping to grow a small business and increase its societal impacts. 

Responsibilities 

Working closely with the rest of the Operations Support team and staff from participating contractors, this position’s responsibilities include: 

  • Back-Office Contractor Support 
    Assist contractors in the customer approval process as needed, move projects forward in multiple stages, and complete contractor requests (e.g. verifying customer eligibility and clarifying program policies) needed to facilitate completion of jobs. Expedite approvals when unable to be automated. Identify opportunities for process & software improvements to streamline approvals workflow. 

  • Scheduling and Logistics Support 
    Make outbound calls to previously served customers to schedule weatherization inspections with Abode’s team of inspectors. Coordinate inspector calendars to prioritize high-importance inspections and optimize field staff's use of time. 

  • Communications Support 
    Take inbound calls and emails from customers and contractors, resolving issues when possible and otherwise routing them to the right resource for efficient resolution. 

  • Other 
    Other tasks may include supporting technical review of projects, assisting with IT or office management tasks, or other responsibilities assigned by the manager. 

Qualifications 

All candidates are required to bring the following skills and experience: 

  • Collaborative team player with a positive can-do attitude  

  • Detail-oriented 

  • Well-organized and systematic in their approach to work; possesses the ability to multitask and methodically keep track of many moving pieces 

  • Effective communication skills and calm, even temperament suited to engaging callers over the phone, potentially for extended calls and with escalated customers 

  • Ability to use sound judgment to determine when a customer and/or situation is escalated and should be routed to management 

  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and working with software such as Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.  Comfortable working across software programs as needed 

Any or all of the following skills and experience are highly desirable: 

  • Previous experience working on some element of Mass Save or similar energy efficiency programs 

  • Demonstrated passion for and interest in sustainability, building science, energy efficiency, or climate change 

  • Some knowledge of residential construction and/or building science 

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced office environment 

  • Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese to support customers whose native language is not English 

Compensation and Benefits 

This is a full-time, exempt position with total compensation targeted at $60K, depending on relevant skills and experience. The Operations Support Associate is able to work mostly remotely or from Abode’s Concord, MA office, whichever is needed to get the job done effectively.  Abode offers its employees a competitive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance, a matching 401k, and fully paid Parental Leave.
